Evolution
Synopsis
Details of a family’s history. Three fragments, from three historical ages. There doesn’t appear to be a connection between them, while it is the deepest of all: eastern and central European Jewry, an almost forgotten part of Europe’s history. Three generations. Éva the progenitress, her daughter, Léna, and Léna’s son, Jónás. Three locations: Auschwitz, Budapest, Berlin.
Evolution analyses inherited traumas through the story of a family. A family where fates hold onto each other like gentle streams. How long are traumas inherited and how much do the events of the past define our present? How long do we have to carry other people’s burdens and can we decide how and for what price we rid ourselves of them?
