Wild Roots

Synopsis

The first feature film of Hajni Kis is made within the Incubator Program of the Hungarian National Film Fund. The lead character of the film, which is partly based on the director’s lifestory, is ex-con Tibor who works as a bouncer in a club. He has financial difficulties, and because of his vehement nature, he’s always in conflict with his surroundings. He and his wild child daughter, Niki have not seen each other for seven years. The twelve-year-old girl lives with her grandparents, who are unable to discipline her. When Niki finds out that Tibor has been released from prison, she finds him, despite being forbidden to do so. The reunion prompts Tibor to face his past and the responsibilities of being a real father.
